Vermont Youth Book Awards Conference - Green Mountain Book Award Session Online
The Green Mountain Book Award is Vermont’s teen-choice award celebrating excellence in young adult literature. Vermont students in grades 9-12 read the 15 nominated books and vote for their favorite.
The Green Mountain Book Award conference session takes place Tuesday, October 22, 2024, from 3:00-5:00pm.
Teens, library staff, teachers, and others who love great young adult literature will take away ideas and inspiration for discussions and programming. This year we invite students to watch the author presentations in libraries and classrooms across the state! The authors will speak directly to students and have asked us to encourage them to submit questions prior to the conference. Please encourage teens to submit questions for authors, and submit your own through this form by Thursday, October 17. If you plan to view the conference with a group of students, please indicate how many adults you anticipate will be in attendance. When you join the session please share in the chat how many students are in your group.
3:00-4:00pm: Author K. J. Reilly will discuss winner of the 2023-2024 Green Mountain Book Award, Four For The Road, her writing process, and introduce her new book Sixteen Minutes. She is also the author of Words We Don’t Say, which was on the Bank Street College of Education Best Children's Books of the Year list in 2019.
4:00-5:00pm: Green Mountain Book Award committee members will lead an exploration into the award nomination list, highlighting innovative and fun ways to promote and engage book award participation in schools and libraries.
