2025 Public Library Directors Summit In-Person

Directors from libraries of all sizes and with all levels of experience are invited to join Vermont Department of Libraries staff, colleagues from all over the state, and partners from the Vermont State Archives and Records Administration and University of Vermont (UVM) Libraries for the in-person 2025 Public Library Directors Summit.

This will take place in-person on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 9:30-3:45, in the State Conference Room, entrance 109 State Street in Montpelier (the Pavilion Building, next to the State House, same location as the 2024 summit, and the former location of the Department of Libraries).

Topics will include updates from State Librarian and Commissioner of Libraries Catherine Delneo, a presentation on emergency preparedness for libraries given by Rachel Onuf, Coordinator of the Vermont Historical Records Program, and collecting and using data in a variety of ways to tell your library’s story and champion its success with guest presenter Kristin Florian, Data Visualization Specialist at the Howe Library at UVM. These sessions will include interactive components and time for Q&A and discussion.

There will also be cake and festivities, as the state library turns 200 this year! 🎉

The agenda is attached.

The intended audience for this event is the top administrator at the library, whether the position title is director, head librarian, librarian, or something else.
