Sharing Early Literacy Skills with Caregivers Online

In this virtual workshop, participants will learn easy ways to highlight and present the five early literacy practices to parents and caregivers, reinforcing that reading begins at birth and that they are a child’s first and best teacher.

Public libraries can serve as places that support parents and caregivers in helping young children develop essential literacy skills. Storytimes and other library programming for children ages 0-5 that incorporate the five early literacy practices: talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing, develop skills that will help get children ready to read and on the right path to student success.

This workshop will be led by Jonathan Clark, Library Consultant for Children and Teen Services.

If you’re unable to attend the live session, you can register to receive the link to Niche Academy, where you can access the recording of workshop and the slides.

The audience for this workshop is public library staff.
