Cataloging Core Course Online

This class covers basic cataloging practices, including copy cataloging, a review of classification, and a peek through the door of the theory and philosophy behind cataloging. It includes hands on cataloging practice. This class consists of 5 weekly required synchronous meetings with required assignments in-between sessions and fulfills the Cataloging requirement for the Certificate of Public Librarianship program: 25 CEUs.

Course goal:

This class should make you feel more confident in your understanding of MARC records, make you feel more comfortable with copy cataloging & editing records, and give you tools that will aid in your cataloging practice. After taking this course you should understand why good cataloging matters.
